Islam denies Jesus' crucifixion (Quran 4:157), but this contradicts all early historical evidence. Roman historian Tacitus and Jewish historian Josephus independently record Jesus' death by crucifixion. The deeper issue: Islam has no concept of substitutionary atonement — sin is addressed only by good deeds outweighing bad. But God's justice demands sin be judged — Christ on the Cross bore our punishment as our substitute. This is the Gospel of grace.
